So, you may be wondering, what exactly is a TACC Ambassador? What does it involve? Can I do it?

Well, wonder no more folks. Below is a brief overview of the role of a TACC Ambassador.

The Tartan Army Children’s Charity is run on a voluntary basis and has come from, and belongs to, our supporters .

Our new TACC Ambassadors project will allow us to work even closer with, you, our supporters so that together we can go on and do great things for disadvantaged children at home in Scotland and in the countries where the national team play.

The program  will help us connect to, and work with, key sections of our business, supporters and geographical communities. Your experience and expertise in your own community will help drive the charity forward in creating a brighter future for children.

Becoming a TACC ambassador requires nothing more than the enthusiasm and desire to make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in Scotland and beyond.

What’s involved?

The role varies according to your location and is flexible to take account of what you are happy to and/or are able to do; so you could be involved in all, or just some, of the following activities:

• Distributing promotional leaflets

• Supporting TACC’s involvement in national eventsJimHart

• Recruiting supporters and volunteers for the Charity

• Providing general support to the Charity when required

• Co-ordinating public and match day collections

• Attending cheque presentations or local events on behalf of the Charity

• Organising charitable events, local fund raisers or sportsman’s dinners

• Identifying and developing potential fundraising opportunities within local groups

• Giving presentations (to community organisations and schools)

• Identifying suitable charities / organisations that would benefit from TACC grants

What are the goals of the TACC Ambassador Project?

To increase awareness and knowledge of TACC and to expand the reach of TACC to benefit children in more communities in Scotland and beyond.

How much time is involved?

As much or as little time as you can spare, the major aspect of this role is to get the message out, promote the charity and to be enthusiastic.

What are the benefits to me of becoming a TACC Ambassador?

You will be making a real difference to the lives of children in your local community, Scotland and overseas. You will get to meet new and inspiring people and be able to add details of your voluntary experience to your CV.

What support will I receive?

As a TACC Ambassador, you will be fully supported by the TACC trustees. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet fellow volunteers, and we’ll provide you with information about how you can become involved with the Charity in other ways should you wish to.

We just hope to inspire people to get out and do something a bit different, really challenge themselves and see what their capable of.” Jog 4 Hampden, 2012.

As mentioned in our Headline News recently, Claire Valentine ran the half marathon at the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow on the 2nd September 2012 for The Tartan Army Children's Charity.

The fact that Claire chose TACC as her charity of choice to raise money for makes us feel very proud.

MFSM - August 2012 - The Spartans Print E-mail
Down to the nitty gritty now, this is what it's all about and is what we do with all your help and support. Children from The Spartans Community Football Academy recently attended the Scotland v Australia game at Easter road in Edinburgh on the 15th of August as part of TACC's My First Scotland Match.

The Spartans FooTEA Club lets local primary school children from the community come along to pla
y football, games and have a good meal. The Spartans are based in Edinburgh and you can learn more here http://www.spartanscfa.com/
MFSM-08-2012-spartans-642We're sure the kids enjoyed themselves but it's best if we let The Spartans Youth Activities Co-ordinator Amy Henderson describe it in her own words. Magic!

“We are the famous footea army and we are going to Easter Road” was the chant the young people sang from the start to the end of our journey to the Scotland match on the 15th August and will become one of the anchors to remind them of the game. Thanks to TACC who provided us with 3 adult and 12 children tickets for the Scotland vs Australia international game, we were able to give the opportunity for 12 young people to attend their first ever Scotland game match. The TACC gave every young person a replica Scotland shirt which made them feel proud to Scottish and a part of the nation.

There were many highlights of the game for the young people. Firstly being in a crowd so big and singing the national anthem; Secondly seeing Scotland score three goals which they celebrated in great fashion and will cherish the moments forever. Throughout the duration of the game all you could hear was the young people singing ‘we'll be coming’ and analysing the game, shouting what pass should be played (Craig Levein better watch his job). The most magic moment was the final whistle where all the young people celebrated like Scotland had just won the world cup and made all the people around them smile!

This experience gave the opportunity for the young people to get out of North Edinburgh, develop their social skills and strengthen relationships with academy staff. The opportunity to be proud to be Scottish and understand what teamwork can do for people which I hope they will take to their Footea club and become leaders and create a ripple effect for their peers."
