2011 Dublin |
Page 1 of 4 Supporting Barretstown
At the suggestion of Dublin-based Scotland supporter Steve Chapman, TACC made grant of €5513.29 to Barretstown (www.barretstown.org).
Barretstown rebuilds the lives of children affected by serious illness, and their families, through a life changing Therapeutic Recreation programme in a safe, fun and supportive environment. They understand that every so often a sick child just needs to be a child, which is why fun is a core element of our life changing programmes.
TACC's grant will fund a horse riding programme throughout 2011, bringing a lot of joy to the children.
Excellent, unobtrusive medical supervision helps children with cancer and other diseases forget illness, learn to have fun and rebuild their confidence and self-esteem. The programmes take place at a fairytale castle in the beautiful foothills of Ireland's Wicklow Mountains, serving children affected by serious illnesses - primarily cancer and serious blood diseases - from Ireland, Britain and throughout Europe, and their families.
TACC's 2010 in Lithuania and Czech Republic focused on fun and recreation by funding new playgrounds, away days and Christmas parties, so Barretstown was right up our street.
