Back in August/ September the Jog 4 Hampden team of Stuart, Andrew, Chris and Mark took on the epic challenge of running 300 miles over 10 days from John O'Groats to Hampden Park in Glasgow, all the while dribbling a football!! After a lot of pain (and even more laughs) the lads managed it and ended the run in style at the Scotland v Serbia game on the 8th September where they were welcomed by the Tartan Army in Hampden Park before the kick off.

So far they have raised the fantastic amount of £2,180 for the Tartan Army Children's Charity. Well done all of you! A really fantastic and courageous effort on behalf of disadvantaged children. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Even though their run is over the lads are still fundraising and hoping to increase the overall total, you can still sponsor them over at their just giving page J4H Just Giving A huge thanks to everyone who have sponsored/ supported them so far.

Stay tuned for a TACC Blog exclusive soon on their run straight from the horses mouths and be sure to have a look at the lads video, it's brilliant.

If you would like to raise money for TACC with a run, walk or other event please contact us we would love to hear from you.

The plan:

Led by Stuart Doyle (29), this mammoth expedition will involve running 300 miles in 10 days while dribbling a football.

Stuart and his team of 3 hardy adventurers will run 30 miles a day from John ‘O Groats to Hampden to raise funds and awareness for TACC

The motivation:

Stuart is an avid explorer who recently cycled 3000 miles from Greece to Scotland to raise money for St Columba’s hospice. He describes himself as honest, easy-going, immature, practical and tolerant and keen footballer who ply’s his trade Edinburgh Southern. Stu is a bone-fide Iron Man who pushes himself to the limit and he and his team are absolutely committed to raising as much awareness and funds for TACC as they can.

Macedonia 2011 Print E-mail

TACC always tries to remain in contact with the worthy causes we have supported during our travels. On the lead up to Christmas 2011 we recived a message from Snezana in Maceondia. Snezana is a day care centre for street children.

Once again Snezana talked through the challenges being faced ensuring that even the basic welfare of the children they support was being met. TACC wanted to once again show our support and pledged to donate £5000 to improve the lives of the children who use the center.

Snezana again they asked for the most basic of items such as shoes, towels, toiletries, clothes and school equipment. These may seem insignificant to us but these basic supplies and items make a significant difference to the children.

In addition to these items the school have also been able to purchase a Boiler, Washing Machine and make some much needed repair to the center.

The British Embassy again lent a hand to ensure that all of the items the school needed were purchased and delivered to them.

Thanks to the many TACC supporters we have been able to improve the lives of children.

KIEV CHRISTMAS 2011 Print E-mail

Kiev CHRISTMAS 2011

TACC have once again make a donation to the School of the Blind in Kiev.

The school has continued to face great challenges - funding remains a big problem and only covers the bare minimum to allow the pupils to survive.

The school have used the donation to purchase new heaters. These heaters have served a vital role for the school. The heaters actually saved their fruit and vegetables and other food they store  - the weather is ridiculously cold, around -30C and all their supplies would have been ruined without them.

In addition the school will mark Ukrainian Easter on 15 April this year. The school will use some funds to give the pupils a simple pleaseure that most children take for granted - they will make sure to buy each kid an Easter cake. We will try to posty some pictures from the party after easter.

School of the Blinds financial situation is the same as the past -  the government covers food, electricity, water and teachers' salaries - everything else they have to somehow make happen themselves. The donations made by you to TACC helps makes an absolutely indescribable amount of difference.

Spain - Christmas 2011 Print E-mail

spain-2011-320

The Tartan Army Children's Charity have been able to help the Emaus children again this year by collaborating with the "Bags For Christmas" appeal. Thanks to the money raised at the TACC Christmas party we were able to send a donation of £500 to Spain to help their baby unit.

The Emaus baby unit looks after 14 children all under 3 years old. The money has paid for a small mountain of babies milk, nappies and other essentials needed to keep the unit running. "This amazing and wonderful gift gives us such peace of mind and will last us a whole month" said one of the Emaus carers. Earlier in the year the Scotland fans donated £15,000 towards an all-purpose sports field and outdoor play area for the Emaus centre.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Print E-mail

TACC would like to wish all our supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

In 2011 you have helped us support many fantastic causes and countless disadvantaged children. Together we have made donations to a baby and children's orphanage in Spain, an orphanage in Macedonia and children’s causes in the Republic of Ireland.

In Scotland we have continued to support the TACC FC initiative including Spartans in Edinburgh and Ruchazie in Glasgow, provided coats for disadvantaged children and made sure that Christmas Day is a little happier for hundreds of children across Scotland through our annual Christmas Present Appeal. We also continue to work closely with Aberlour Child Care Trust to support the good work they do every day.

TACC would like to acknowledge the support of the SFA, the many tartan army organisations across the world and the dedicated individuals who have all helped to make a real difference to the lives of children in Scotland and beyond. We could not provide the support to causes like those mentioned without your help.

We look forward to your continued support in 2012.
