TACC FC Aberdeen |
We were privileged recently to attend the launch of our latest TACC FC project. In association with Aberdeen Football Club in the Community we will be providing an after school club where Primary 6 and 7 pupils from an identified area can learn personal and social responsibility through Football. Pupils will interact with positive role models from AFC and sit down at the dinner table together to enjoy a healthy homecooked meal.
The objectives of the project are to build a strong working relationship with a local Primary School and help children that would not normally get the chance.
The children will receive 40 weekly coaching sessions per term time at Aberdeen Sports Village with homecooked meals provided afterwards in Pittodrie Stadium players restaurant.
Pupils will also have the opportunity to develop their social skills and etiquette round the dinner table, attend an AFC game as a group at Pittodrie and play on the pitch at half time at Pittodrie during an AFC SPL homematch. The children taking part in the project will be from Seaton Primary School, which is located within a mile of both Aberdeen Sports Village and Pittodrie Stadium, home of Aberdeen FC.
TACC trustees Diane Hay and Susan Donn went along to the launch to represent the charity and to meet the children.
“The children are really well supported by Aberdeen Football Club who have supplied them with team tops and t-shirts, we also spoke to the schools head teacher and she is so supportive and grateful for the opportunity the children are receiving.”
“Steven (Sweeney) the coach who runs the club told us he is very grateful for TACC's support, he also added that the head teacher of Seaton Primary was so supportive of the project also and comes along every week to help work with the Children. The whole thing not only helps the children get along with each other as a team but also the fact that they all sit down together at a table and eat their meal and tidy up afterwards is a great learning experience for them.”
“ First team players Josh Magennis and Andrew Considine also came along for the launch to eat with and talk to the children and that gave them such a thrill, especially when Steven mentioned the possibility that he would try and get more first team players along in the future.”
We're proud to be part of this and excited for the future of this project. We'll be popping in now and again to see how things are going and to have a kick about with the children (well, why not?) and we think you'll be reading a lot more about this TACC FC.
Thanks for all your support. By supporting TACC and our projects like TACC FC you are making a positive impact on children’s lives that would not normally have the opportunity and that makes all the difference in the world.
