MFSM - The Matches 2009 - 2010 Print E-mail

Amongst the crowds at Hampden this year to watch Scotland's matches against Croatia, Northern Ireland and Norway were the newest recruits to the Tartan Army.

Guests of the Tartan Army Children’s Charity (TACC), these children are supported by Aberlour and Barnardos Scotland and travelled to the match from their homes in Edinburgh, Stirling, Elgin, Stranraer, Dundee and Glasgow.

With their new Scotland tops and scarves which were also being provided by TACC, hopefully the children enjoyed the experience so much that they will become regular Scotland supporters of the future.

This was our first project helping Scottish children, following 2 years of overseas donation. It acknowledges that most supporters were at some point lucky enough to have someone take them to their first Scotland match

The plan is to repeat this at each of the forthcoming World Cup qualifying matches with other disadvantaged children from around Scotland – whether they be in care, disabled or ill, TACC hope to give them all a day to remember

Scotland vs. Liechtenstein, 7th September 2010

"......the boys loved it to the point my ears are still ringing from them singing "we'll be coming" all the way back home in the bus.

What was especially good was that it was the first game for 6 of the group and to have such a dramatic finish will stay with them forever. They were all over the moon to receive the Scotland tops as well, altogether a great night for all."
