Where? Ruchazie is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated to the North-East of the city close to Easterhouse and Royston

What? A club where young people 12-18 where they can learn personal and social responsibility through football, interaction with positive adult role models and sharing a healthy dinner. The area we will be working in is a hub of gang violence and territorialism and it is hope that we can bring young people together from across the gang boundaries to work together through football.

Where? The project will be based in the soccerworld complex and community café in Ruchazie.

When? On an evening between 6-8pm (6-7pm football, 7-8pm food) over 40 weeks of the year.

Why? Ruchazie is in the top 3% of Scotland’s poorest communities and has suffered from mutiple deprivation for decades. Ruchazie has NO facilities for young people to use. No community centre, football pitches or swing parks. (It does not even have a pub).

Who? The project will be run by St Paul’s youth forum in conjunction with Ruchazie café. The project will employ local young staff and experienced youth workers.

The host projects

The project will be managed and run by St Pauls’s (SP) youth forum. SP are a cutting edge youth work project from Provanmill. SP have won many awards and received the highest recognition from the Scottish government for their ability to get alongside vulnerable young people and engage them in positive activities. SP’s operate a fully funded portfolio of youth projects and have recently secured over £100k from a major UK funder to underwrite their core work ensuring that they are a sustainable host project for our funds and have the infrastructure to administer the project successfully.

Ruchazie Community café and youth project are a smaller and more fragile project who have continued to exist in dire circumstances for the last 3 years. The café is the only facility in Ruchazie that the community can use and there is a massive grassroots community support and our investment will allow the café to provide staffing for the project and be a support to the ongoing

Background info:

The settlement of Ruchazie was once a bustling community filled with workers from the city of Glasgow’s many industries. In the last 30 years the population of the area has gone from 10’000 to 3000 and this has had a massive affect on the social make up of the area leaving behind a disparate community of long term unemployed, socially excluded and isolated individuals and family groupings. The area was subject to a failed regeneration attempt in recent years which renewed the housing stock but left no community facilities or public spaces behind adding a sense of desperation to an already deprived area. The new housing stock has deteriorated greatly in recent years and this has added to the misery of the community who feel their last chance of rejuvenation has passed them by.

Irina from the school has sent us a message thanking TACC for the very special year the kids have had thanks to our support. We are pleased to launch this year's TACC Christmas present appeal - we're asking all Scotland fans to buy one extra present this year, for a disadvantaged child in their area.
We've asked the children cared for by Aberlour Child Care Trust to tell us what they'd like, and we've posted this list of presents on our website.
None cost more than £20, so PLEASE go that extra mile this Christmas.

Aberlour supports children with disabilities, those affected by parental drug and alcohol use, and those with social, educational, emotional and behavioural difficulties,including children who run away from home.
Last year the Tartan Army showed their generosity and donated over £4,000. TACC topped up this donation to £8,500!
