MFSM - Costa Rica - March 2018 Print E-mail

TACC were delighted to send a group from Child Bereavement UK based in Glasgow to attend the Scotland vs Costa Rica match at Hampden on Friday 23rd March 2018 as part of our My First Scotland Match programme.

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.

In 2013 the Big Fund awarded Child Bereavement UK a Third Sector Early Intervention Fund Grant to improve bereavement support initiatives for children, young people and their families in four areas of Scotland, deemed areas of deprivation. They began their work in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow and then funding was extended in 2015 to include West Lothian. They were then delighted to receive further funding to help to enhance bereavement capacity in Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Fife, The Highlands, Orkney and Shetland.  If you would like to find out more about CBUK please have a look at their website https://childbereavementuk.org

13 children attendied the match along with family members and staff. All the children were given the new Scotland strip, a saltire and £10 to spend.

As always TACC are very grateful to the folks at the Scorland Supporters Club who provided us with match tickets and also a complimentary food voucher for each attendee. Their support is very much appreciated.

TACC FC - GoFitba - Dundee Print E-mail

TACC has donated £6000 to fhe Scottish Football Partnership Trust (SFPT) GoFitba Project.  This will allow 40 school children in Dundee to take part in a 12 week

football-based health and well-being project in conjunction with Dundee East Community Sports Club.

GoFitba provides opportunities for some of Scotland's most disadvantaged primary school children (P4-P7) to take part in a weekly two-hour, free to access fun sport

and health education initiative.  The project takes a holistic approach to teach children the benefits of regular physical activity within a football environment, with each

structured session providing the Scottish Governments minimum daily target of one hour of moderate physical activity.

During the second hour of each session, the participants take part in an interactive educational journey with their very own GoFitba learning journal to explore the benefits

of leading a healthy lifestyle through diet and nutrition.  The final component of each session sees the children being served a hot healthy meal and an opportunity to enjoy

some social time with their peers.  This serves to further enhance the learning experience on diet and nutrition and crucially ensures the children are being fed outwith

school hours, helping to tackle food poverty.

"We look forward to seeing GoFitba develop and grow with the fantastic support provided by TACC" said Stuart McCaffrey, Chief Operating Officer, SFPT.

The feedback from Coo Park - "Thanks all at TACC for supporting our kids to go to their first Scotland match at the Falkirk Stadium tonight.  Words can't explain how happy and excited they all were.  You couldn't be helping a more deserving group of kids.  A new strip and a big tenner are things that may be every day to some, but it is a big thing for them and their parents.  Great work TACC are doing."
