TACC SUPPORTING INCLUDEM

iNCLUDEM

The Tartan Army Children’s Charity are delighted to announce the continued partnership with Includem to bring a family Christmas some of Scotland’s most disadvantaged communities this Christmas.

The £10,000 donated by the TACC will be spent on improving Christmas for the vulnerable young people and families throughout Scotland who use Includem’s services.  Includem provides 24/7 one-to-one support to some of Scotland's most vulnerable, high risk and challenging young people.

Angela Morgan, Chief Executive of Includem, said “The TACC’s contribution is invaluable to our young people and their families.  It is wonderful to be chosen again to receive this money and we are immensely grateful to TACC.

“Christmas can be a particularly difficult time of year for our young people; it is a time when our 24/7 support is more crucial than ever - and, for our staff, Christmas can be one of the busiest times of year in terms of supporting young people and families.

“This donation provides young people with some of the things that many of us take for granted; a family Christmas dinner, or an outing to the Christmas lights. A donation like this helps us to go the extra mile, giving young people a Christmas that they will never forget”.2013-includem-400

In 2012, the £10,000 donation funded Christmas experiences from Christmas dinners to outings and gifts - and much more. For some individuals and families, this was the first experience of its kind.

Karen, 17, mother to Sarah’s 6 months, said “I had my first ever Christmas tree and other decorations. It looked great, especially with this being mine and Sarah’s first Christmas together….thanks very much”.

For families in difficult circumstances, the fund made all the difference. Mary, kinship carer for Scott, 14, said We didn’t know how we were going to manage. It’s been hard since we took Scott in and his granddad lost his job. Now I don’t need to worry.”

Alistair Hunter, a trustee of the Tartan Army Children’s Charity, said “Our aim is simple. Do what we can to help and support some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and families. Includem are a fantastic organisation that are helping to turn lives around, day in, day out. We are proud to be working with them again this year, and together we are completely committed to doing what we can to bring a little bit of Christmas joy into very difficult circumstances.”

For one family of five, Christmas 2012 was especially important. David, Includem worker, said “I can’t begin to tell you what a difference this will make. Mum knows this will be her last Christmas and hasn’t been well enough to do much for her family”. The children had been diagnosed with the same genetic condition as their mum, and knew that they would be separated when she died.

Another recipient last year was Ryan, 14. who was able to go to the Panto with his aunt and uncle, kinship carers for himself and his brother. He said ““It was the first time I felt as if we were a family”.

Scotland National Team Head Coach and TACC Patron Gordon Strachan said “TACC and Includem are two great organisations working together to support vulnerable youngsters. The Christmas appeal project is excellent, and I am 100% supportive of offering practical support to vulnerable children and families at Christmas”.
